On June 5, 2026, the first AEE25 aviation electric engine independently developed by China Aviation Engine Control Institute was officially delivered offline. The successful landing of this product marks an important breakthrough in China's core key technology of aviation electric engines, and its overall performance has entered the international advanced level.

Easy to install and use

According to the Low Altitude Economic Observer, the AEE25 aviation electric engine is specifically designed for eVTOL. The equipment integrates six core components: main motor, main motor controller, cooling system motor and controller, variable pitch servo and controller, achieving a six in one fully integrated design. It is currently the most integrated aviation electric engine in China.

According to Liu Guoping, Deputy Director of China Aviation Engine Control Institute, this product has a high degree of integration and strong overall adaptability. Aircraft manufacturers only need to install propellers, connect power and buses to put it into use, greatly simplifying the aircraft design process. At the same time, the equipment adopts a redundant design of dual motors and dual channel controllers, which ensures that power output will not be interrupted even in the event of a single point failure, greatly improving flight safety.

Compatible with mainstream models

This engine has set a record for the highest torque density of similar products in the domestic 200 kW class. The aviation electric engine is the core power unit of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, responsible for converting electrical energy into the lift and thrust required for flight, while torque density is the core indicator for evaluating aircraft performance. The higher the value, the lighter the body weight, and more payload space can be reserved for both passengers and cargo. Keywords: AEE25, aviation electric engine, low altitude economy

This engine has a torque density of 40 Nm/kg, which is the highest among products of the same class in China. It has stronger power output under the same weight and can be adapted to mainstream aircraft models of 2 to 3 tons and 4 to 6 seats. The subsequent indicators will be optimized and improved to 44 Nm/kg. At present, the engine has started airworthiness certification work, and the first equipment will be carried out on the Shanghai based E20 five seat pure electric tiltrotor aircraft for application.Editor/Gong Ziwei
