Bali has a high concentration of tourist traffic throughout the year, and the pressure on domestic waste disposal continues to increase. Traditional landfill methods are difficult to balance ecological and tourism development needs. The first local waste incineration power generation project has been fully invested and constructed by domestic environmental protection enterprises, and witnessed by government officials from multiple countries. The project has dual values of waste reduction and ecological improvement, becoming a demonstration model for solid waste treatment in Indonesia.

Speech at the Construction Site

On July 8, 2026, the project held a groundbreaking ceremony in Badong County, Bali Province. Several senior officials from Indonesian regulatory authorities and the Governor of Bali Province attended the event and made speeches. According to relevant officials, the project can reduce 80% of landfill waste and 640000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. After two years of completion, it will optimize the local living environment and enhance Bali's tourism reputation. This construction model can be used as a reference for similar solid waste projects in various parts of Indonesia, and each region can choose incineration power generation or waste to fuel conversion paths based on their own conditions. The person in charge of the project investor introduced that the enterprise has been deeply involved in the waste incineration industry for many years, has a complete and mature technology and operation team, and will rely on this project to output advanced solid waste treatment solutions in China.

Project Overview

This first waste to energy project in Bali covers an area of approximately 60000 square meters, with a construction period of two years and a commercial operation period of thirty years after completion. The project is implemented to fill the gap in local resource based waste disposal, achieving waste reduction and energy recovery through incineration power generation, while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Keywords: garbage incineration power generation, overseas environmental protection projects of Chinese enterprises

Based on the implementation of the project, China's complete set of environmental protection technologies has gone abroad, building a new platform for Southeast Asian solid waste management cooperation and providing replicable practical solutions for the green and low-carbon development of island cities.Editor/Min Jing
