On August 22, 2026, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Luhut, Chairman of the Indonesian National Economic Council, in Jakarta.

  Practice has proven that strengthening friendly cooperation between China and Indonesia not only effectively promotes the development of their respective countries, but also sets an example of mutually beneficial cooperation among countries in the global South. China is a trustworthy and long-term stable strategic partner for Indonesia's development and revitalization. Currently, there is a collective rise in the global South, with China and Indonesia being important representatives. The two countries are geographically close and economically complementary. Both sides adhere to friendly policies towards each other, and further deepening cooperation between China and Indonesia has the advantages of favorable timing, location, and people. China is willing to fully leverage the comprehensive strategic dialogue mechanism and the "2+2" dialogue mechanism with Indonesia, eliminate interference, enhance mutual trust, further tap potential, and promote cooperation in various fields to keep pace with the times, improve quality and upgrade. China sincerely helps Indonesia accelerate its development process, encourages and supports Chinese enterprises to continue investing and developing in Indonesia, helps Indonesia transform its resource advantages into development momentum and people's well-being, better enhances its independent development capabilities, and accelerates the industrialization process. I hope and believe that the Indonesian government will provide a safe, stable, and favorable business environment for Chinese enterprises.

Luhut stated that the relationship between Indonesia and China is built on mutual respect, mutual trust, and deep friendship. The cooperation between the two sides, especially the investment of Chinese enterprises in Indonesia, has made important positive contributions to the economic development and improvement of people's livelihoods in Indonesia. Indonesia regards China as its most trustworthy friend and partner, and its development cannot be separated from China's support and participation. Indonesia is willing to continuously deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China and expand strategic emerging industries such as green energy, artificial intelligence, digital economy, biotechnology, etc. on the basis of expanding and strengthening traditional cooperation in energy and mining. Indonesia always welcomes Chinese companies to invest and develop in Indonesia, and will definitely provide a fair and friendly business environment for Chinese companies.
