The competition in the European and American energy storage markets is becoming increasingly saturated, and domestic new energy companies are turning to potential markets. Huawei, relying on its technological and localization advantages, has won a benchmark project for ultra large energy storage in Egypt, successfully breaking out of the industry's internal competition pattern.
On August 25, 2026, Huawei Digital Energy and the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy completed the progress review of the 4GWh independent battery energy storage project, and the project officially entered the substantive promotion stage. This project is a leading Sino foreign energy storage cooperation project in North Africa in recent years, adopting the Egyptian pound settlement model to simultaneously promote power station construction and local production layout of energy storage batteries.
The project is equipped with Huawei's fully liquid cooled grid type energy storage system, which is suitable for the local high-temperature desert environment and weak power grid conditions, and can effectively absorb new energy and fill the power supply gap. This cooperation breaks away from the single device export model and focuses on industry co construction to deeply cultivate the local market, providing a new model for China's energy storage to explore the emerging track in Northeast Africa.Editor/Min Jing
