As Europe's power-market reforms continue and the penetration of renewable energy such as wind and solar continues to rise, demand is growing for fast-response and long-duration regulation resources in the power system. Against this backdrop, LISINER's 5MW/20MWh grid-side peak-shaving and frequency-regulation energy storage project in the Czech Republic has been successfully commissioned, providing more flexible and stable regulation support for the regional power system.
Located at latitude 49.56°, longitude 15.95°, the project is centered on a 5MW/20MWh energy storage system and operates for grid-side peak shaving and frequency regulation. The system can flexibly adjust its charging and discharging power according to grid operating needs: it stores energy during low-load periods and releases it during peak-load periods to support peak shaving and valley filling; when system frequency fluctuates, it adjusts power to help the grid restore supply-demand balance, improving the stability and regulation capability of the regional grid.

As the share of wind and solar continues to rise, the volatility and intermittency of renewable generation place greater demands on power system regulation. This grid-side energy storage project can provide regulation support under scenarios such as renewable output fluctuations, load changes, and frequency fluctuations, balancing peak shaving and frequency regulation, easing grid pressure, and improving the flexibility and stability of system operation.
The project uses LISINER's TRITON containerized energy storage system. The system's standard charge/discharge rate is ≤0.5P, and this project operates at 0.25P, supporting four-hour long-duration energy storage applications. The longer continuous charge/discharge capability enables the system to provide energy support over a longer time scale, better meeting grid-side peak-shaving needs for sustained regulation and providing flexible power support for frequency regulation. The system supports charging at 0–60°C and discharging at −20 to 60°C, adapting to different environmental conditions and ensuring long-term stable operation.

The project is developed and owned by ENVI ENERGO a.s., with non-recourse debt financing provided by Česká spořitelna, part of Austria's Erste Group, ensuring smooth project progress from a financial perspective. During project construction, LISINER worked closely with local partners to successfully complete commissioning, construction, and grid connection, accumulating practical experience for further expansion in the European market.
