The Kenyan President once again visited the Taweta Highway construction site to inspect the progress of the project on site. This is the second time the President has personally visited this cross-border thoroughfare since the start of construction, and it also confirms the important position of the project in local development.

Recently, President Ruto visited the project site to communicate with the project leader and inspect the construction organization and safety management. The President affirmed the construction capability of the Chinese team and encouraged them to seize the window period, ensure quality and quantity of construction, and strive for early opening to benefit the people along the route. The project is built along the border of Kenya and Tanzania, spanning two counties. The region has a dry climate and a long front line, making construction difficult. The second phase of main construction was completed in February 2026.
